How could I learn to develop body language techniques so that they become second nature?
I’m 19 years old and was born with Asperger’s Sydrome. At the moment, I am working as a door-to-door salesman, and so body language is very important to be successful in the job. I know the implications of body language and how to read boy language, as I taught myself academically rather than instinctively; when I was a child, I had no concept of this skill at all.
However now, I know which techniques should be used, like moving around, smiling, eye contact, assertive voice etc, but because of my poor motor-coordination, I am struggling with applying these techniques into the real world, and so I have had social problems throughout life also.
It’s the eyes and the hands. They are very important when sending messages in body language.
Your eyes to focus on them and you have to be confident to show them you know what your doing. Don’t act confused and prepare yourself for all the possible questions they will ask.
Your hand should be doing something such as holding what you have and maybe a pen in your other hand to point at the things your showing them. You should not get to close, stand at a safe distance and have a good body posture because when you get to intimate like a touch on the shoulder of arm can be very uncomfortable for the customer.
