children nursery rhymes
My French is poor and I can’t remember the rest of this children’s nursery rhyme. How does it continue

Un petit, d’un petit,
C’est un evaux,
Un petit d’un petit,
A deux gris faux…

any ideas?

lol , I found that : Un petit d’un petit
S’étonne aux Halles
Un petit d’un petit
Ah! degrés te fallent
Indolent qui ne sort cesse
Indolent qui ne se mène
Qu’importe un petit d’un petit
Tout Gai de Reguennes

Though I’m french and it’s the first time I “hear” it, one can learn everyday, now I just have to find out what it means ;o)

@ wise owl, lol, that’s why I couldn’t figure out what it meant..

I found wwhere from it comes, it’s an excerpt of a book called The d’Antin Manuscript published in 1967 wich is a collection of 40 well-known English nursery rhymes, written in their French homophonic equivalents who must be read aloud with a heavy french accent.
It was written by Van Rooten and he adds also foot notes attempting to give meaning to nonsensical french.
In fact it was meant to be kind of a joke, letting people think it was of medieval French poetry, discovered and deciphered by Luis d’Antin Van Rooten …
Well done ;o)
