Will I damage my children If I dont give them hugs?
Dont get me wrong. I have the magic ability to kiss away tears/cut/bruises. I play games with them and read to them. I will sit and talk with them and tell them daily how beautiful they are and how much I love them. But I do not like being touched or hugged by anyone. I would rather (and do) give them a little rub on the back. It is a very rare thing if I hug them or let them sit on my knee. Do you believe this is teaching them to be cold and hard? Do you think It will damage who they are because I dont hug them? I love my children very much , but I have never been one for showing my effections.
Its not damaging, but hugging shows you care, you may show it other ways but i dont think its the same as getting hugged and held for 5 secs! If you dont like it that much, dont do it that often! Kids need effection, so when they do something really impressive,every now and then give them a quick hug, so they realise that you dont like being touched and hugged but they will know that you do care, and when they do get a hug from you, they will know that they did something really good and will be pleased with themselves!
